Who we are:
Hello everyone! Thanks for taking the time to come check out our resource website. We’re students in the community psychology masters program at The American University in Cairo. Our program is a two year masters program that offers training in theory and practice related to assessing community needs by getting the community involved, designing programs that are informed by research, and evaluating program and projects to determine if they were successful in meeting their objectives. If this program is of interest to you, please look at the flier on our homepage, and don’t hesitate to contact with questions or for further information.
Why we created a website:
First of all in our community psychology courses, we were learning a lot of practical information that we felt would be useful for organizations in Cairo. However, unless you are aware of the resources or take a course in community psychology you may never know that they exist. Therefore, we thought that it would be useful to have a website that allowed you to go to one place and find a variety of resources that may be useful to you while during community work. To decide what to include, we thought about our own experience working with communities and identified information that would be useful to us. Additionally, we emailed some NGOs (perhaps some of you) to find out what resources they were interested in seeing online.
What this website provides:
This website provides a variety of resources to help you better work with communities. These resources include information on finding out what a community needs through community assessment, designing a prevention program by identifying what works, and evaluating if what you are doing is successful. Obviously, this website is a work in progress. If you have any suggestions for content, please email Amy Carrillo at firstname.lastname@example.org.
